Alex & Jess's Woodland Wedding
Updated: Oct 10, 2019
Alex and Jess’s wedding was a dreamy, understated, rustic inspired forest wedding. A Stunning bride dressed in a long sleeve lace Essence of Australia gown from Catherine francis, Arundel which paired with a handsome groom in a green moss bros tweed uniform, set the scene for a truly remarkable occasion.
The venue that Alex and Jess choose to embark on their journey as husband and wife, quite literally took our breath away. Alex and Jess had asked us to meet them at the venue a few weeks before the wedding date, to run through the plan of the day and show us around. Neither of us had heard of this place before their booking so they were super excited about us seeing it for the first time. Being super honest... knowing how obviously special this place was for them both and how happy they were made us a teeny weenie bit worried that they wouldn’t get the reaction from us they were expecting. We had built such a wonderful relationship with the pair of them leading up to this point and knew our opinion had some small mark of meaning to them. Well, noone could say it better than John Steinbeck - "The Redwoods once seen leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always." No one can adequately describe the beauty of these redwood trees and Alex and Jess definitely got the reaction they hoped for. We were so blessed to have been given the opportunity to capture such a beautiful celebration in such an incredible place. The owner who we on the day had the pleasure of meeting gave us such an insight to the wonderful stories and events that have taken place in the woods –So tranquil and calm, the grounds have been kept immaculate and well-loved for all who go to enjoy.
In addition to Two Woods Estate in Pulborough being a breathtakingly beautiful wedding venue, the couple chose Claire Bradford ‘Creating Ceremony’ who is an independent celebrant local to west Sussex. They expressed to us how they had connected with her and adored that she told their story with love, fun, sentimentality and a spot of tasteful humour which knowing them for only a short while – was a perfect reflection of them as a couple. Claire held the ceremony in a way we've never experienced before. Like an emotional roller-coaster, we found ourselves, laughing, crying and even gasping. It really was so well done and was very memorable – which after doing so many weddings now is a word we like.
The sun was high and warm, yet the trees provided a cool shade that created gorgeous shadows on the ground for the guests. There was a wooden arch artistically covered in foliage and flowers by Lulu which was striking even nestled in among the tallest trees. If the ambiance wasn’t perfect enough the sweet sound of keyboard echoed beautifully. As soon as Elliot Herrington started playing, our eyes filled and the lump in our throats tightened. It was unbelievable and no matter how many weddings we’ve done. The moment the music starts, the crowd stands and the anticipation and emotion shows itself all over the groom’s face – we're done! It’s actually a running joke that we ask each other if we've packed our tissues as we cry all over our own hands whilst filming.
After the ceremony, the guests had a nice stroll back to the reception area while the bridal party after photos with the super talented adorlee headed back on the tractor. Yes! That’s right! We even had a whirl – carrying lots of bags in the heat can be tough you know…
Alex and Jess had dressed the reception area so cosy, from a chill out area under fairy lights – to an actual stage area for the bands to set up. It was so personal and fun. Almost like a mini festival. The varied performers that got up throughout the day were just so good – covering difference genres to suit all - most can be found at Clifton entertainments. Our favourite was definitely the finale. An element of folk/country, we just couldn’t help ourselves from having a little boogie.
There were many other amazing aspects of the day that were just so enjoyable that if we went into them all, this blog would never end however, a few to name that we loved were singing waiters, the outdoor Jenga – that Alex put his sweat and tears into making so it needed a mention! Ha! And the oven baked pizzas cooked and made from fresh right before your very eyes. We can confirm truly scrumptious makes the best pizzas in town!!!
Thank you so much Jess and Alex for inviting us, supporting us and trusting us to capture your day for you. Your circle of friends and family were so warm, fun and bubbly like you both that we felt like part of the party the moment we arrived. We wish you a life of good health and happiness together and hope you watch your film and smile at what was ‘the best day ever’ for years to come.
